Mood Disorders Genetics HomeThis is a featured page

My area of interest is the genetics of mood disorders, with an emphasis on juvenile populations. We have research into gene-envronment interactions, endophenotypes, suicidal behaviour, unipolar and bipolar phenotypes, childhood-onset mood disorders (COMD). I have been with the CAMH Neurogenetics Section and Child, Youth and Family program since 2001.

The majority of our investigations to date have used candidate gene association study methods. Because of the relevance of neurodevelopment, stress and neuroplasticity to mood disorders, much of the emphasis has been on brain-derived neurotrophic factor and other growth factors. Many thanks to our all our collaborators, locally and internationally.
